What is TalkLaw/ParLoi?
A collection of Google calendars for selected Canadian cities showing lectures, workshops etc. for those in the legal profession. It's a project of Slaw, Canada's online legal magazine.
Who provides the event information?
You do. It comes to us from law schools, bar associations, clubs and the like. And we also get event information from the organizations' web sites.
Is TalkLaw/ParLoi free?
Yes.
Are event times local?
Yes. In the combined calendar the Google "present time" line is set to eastern time.
How did you pick the cities?
We chose most of the big cities and those where open talks about law are most likely to happen. But if there's a will, we can add more cities to the site. ...more FAQ...
Google Calendar drives the core of the site, so any problems are likely difficulties with that program.
If you're having trouble with your own Google calendar, or transferring event data from TalkLaw / ParLoi to your own calendar system, you will find help on the Google Calender site.
But if there's something on the TalkLaw / ParLoi site that isn't clear or isn't working correctly, please let us know at support@talklaw.ca. Describe the problem clearly, and we'll reply promptly with assistance.
At times a Google calendar will give an error message, saying that it is not currently available. If that happens, refresh your browser window and you should find that the calendar loads properly.

You can subscribe via RSS to the Combined calendar through this link to a Google Bundle (of individual city feeds). This is a somewhat awkward workaround because Google doesn't otherwise produce a single RSS feed for a set of combined calendars.

You can
integrate (i.e. subscribe) to the Combined TalkLaw calendar in your own Google, Outlook, or iCal calendar, using this URL.
To subscribe to city calendars, use the Locations tab to go to the calendar of your choice and then click on the Subcribe tab for that city calendar.
